Social Notes

On the social calendar for Monte Cristo, the Margravaine Rhabbidiers has set sail from Scandalusia to confer with some authorities on the fabled island. Sales of earmuffs have hit an unprecented high in their risque society ....
Rumors float that the Frankszonians are plotting some deviltry against Stagonia. Perhaps motivated by a desire to avenge their allegedly fallen Hurtshog.

To: Major Basil Brush, deputy-commander, His Majesty's 3rd Dragoon Guards.

Station: Emden, Germania

My dear Major Brush,

In the absence of Colonel Howard, who has recently taken ill with Tradgardland Fever, you are hearby given temporary command of His Majesty's 3rd Regiment of Dragoon Guards. Your initial orders are to move the regiment on the morrow from your quarters in Emden and ride to Minden, to reinforce Lord Granby's garrsion in the city of the same. You are to be joined by a squadron of the 1st Dragoon Guards, under the command of Captain Cook. Since your route of travel is well behind the Allied army's lines, it is unlikely that you will encounter any hostile forces. Nevertheless, it is recommended that you post an a picket of one troop ahead of your regiment as a precaution, should any Gallian light cavalry be found patrolling behind the Allied lines.

By the General Commanding,

Lord Willoughby
Emden

Greetings from Beimbach-Schönau

The Reichsfürstentum of Beimbach-Schönau is pleased to join the community of ImagiNations.

Ruled by Hubertus II, we are located on the fringe of the Empire and strive to uphold Roman decency in a decadent World.  Due to the machinations of the savage Turk, we fear that we will soon be forced to recommence hostilities.

In order to inform our allies (and discourage our foes) we are labouring to provide detailed information concerning our State.
Such details as are available can be found at:

We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with our fellow ImagiNationeers.

Wo Ist Der Artur Von Frankzonia?

Date: 13 October 1760/2010
Location: Hillside Outside Frankfurt Am Main
Situation: Luncheon For Two Gallian Officers
For A Better View And To See Lunch, Double Click Images
----------
On a hilltop outside Frankfurt Am Main Lieutenant Général Armentieres (left) and l'Intendat l'Comte de Bastille are about to enjoy luncheon.

Armentieres: "The Frankzonians know how to prepare a heavy luncheon, do they not?"

Bastille: "Oui. That Hurtshog! His people try very hard."

Armentieres: "Are you softening about the Frankzonians?"

Bastille: "After three years at this post, though combustible to be sure, with confusions a plenty, we are still here. Plus, the battle in which you assisted Der Hurtshog on 22 June this year reduced the turbulence in my thoughts - almost entirely."

Armentieres: "I found him a like-able German. It would be good to see him again."

Bastille: "Oui. Where is he these days?"

An upset in the siege of Dolfstein

Your Highnesses of the States General
I wish to report a minor irritation during the siege of Dolfstein in Frankenberg. Although the campaign goes well a recent raid by the enemy has somewhat disrupted us. A supply convoy escorted by our Danish contingent was surprised and overwhelmed by a superior force of the enemy. This act was somewhat knavish, and this is reinforced by the enemy's use of a horde of barbaric Hussars to lead the attack.

Despite the valiant efforts of our troops the local commanders, Graf von Altefish, General van Klogg and General von Hinder-Entz, the supply train was captured and carried off in its entirety. Amongst the wagons was the paychest for the English troops. I have had the other paychests divided equally in order to make sure that all of our men have some sustenance, but the grumblings have not aided morale during this drawn out siege. I have confidence that Dolfstein will soon fall, however, and this will be a much needed fillip to us all.

Until then, Highnesses, I am your most loyal and obedient servant,
Field Marshal of the Allied Forces operating in Frankenberg,
Graf W. von Pritzwalk

P.S. Another paychest would be appreciated...

A diplomacy battle, imminent

Yesterday morning (ehem... that is, on 6th August 1713...), a Spanish/Hispannic war galley carried in Monte-Cristo the renowned Philip V's legate Marquis de Ordoño, with the expectable mission to counter the diplomatic efforts of the Catalan/Galatan legacy currently seeking supports to their agonic struggle against the Two Crowns. As a matter of fact, Don García Manuel de Cotes y Ormaza, Marquis of Ordoño and General Comissary of the Croisade (sic) is one of the most renowned legates in service of Philip V, well-known for his stubborn dealing positions during the Utrecht Treaty deliberations.

Some concern has spread in the offices of the Monte-Cristan Bureau de la Sûreté Nationale when, as a result of their discreet inquiries, it has been known the galley also carried a whole company of heavily armed Royal Walloon Guards; no one doubts the Hispannic expedition would never be fool enough to dare taking any war action inside Monte-Cristan soil, but the purpose why so many elite soldiers are accompanying the Marquis de Ordoño remains nevertheless as an intriguing mystery. Just for caution, Sous-lieutenante Claire Baizanville has discretely reinforced the security devices around the Catalan/Galatan Legate, Marquis of Vilana.

Please read the chronicle, if interested, at The Galley (and please accept my apologies for my so rude English). No necessary to assert any kind of diplomatic intervention would be warmly welcome :S

Listing the Galatan Army

Hi all,

I've just completed a fully illustrated listing on the Cavalry and Infantry units of the Late WSS Catalan/Galatan Army. This includes not only coloured templates picked up from the huge collection at "Not By Appointment", but also photos of the 15mm regiments I'm currently building too.

You can take a glance, if desired, at: http://what-if-catalonia.blogspot.com/p/army-of-galatea.html.

Dragoons, Mountain Fusiliers, Artillery and Militia to follow shortly, hopefully.
