Breaking News -- Allies Win at Tippelbruder

Information is sketchy at this point, but preliminary reports claim that the Allies defending the Town of Tippelbruder have prevailed against the Stagonian army.

As reported to the OSW Group, the allied artillery was the deciding factor, pummeling the invaders who were bogged down in the muddy morass of the soggy fields surrounding the town.

Further information should become available from our key reporter, Arthur of Frankszonia, who was there to document the battle . . . however, due to the difficulty in getting out of Tippelbruder, the report may not be posted for a few days yet.

Nevertheless many are cheering the thwarting of vile Stagonia's efforts to halt the uniform design efforts of David of Tippelbruder.

Wonderful news! The "heavy casualties amongst the infantry" report sounds rather ominous, though. Did David Linienblatt survive the battle? He was fighting with the Trunkenbold Jägers.

Looking forward to Arthur's full report.

David.

Seemingly, according to the few rumours already circulating, some mystical 'Power' or influential 'Magick' decided that the "Tippelbruder Punishment Force" were indeed the bad guys and 'loaded the dices' against them. Could White Witchery be emerging from some Castle Falkenstein somewhere in Urope?

We shall see, also, whether the good Hauptman Sontag survived long enough to see if his commission gets confirmed, and how the militia performed after his training.

The Turkenbold Jagers did well, and by chance (yes, Edie rolled for it) Hauptman Sontag just happened to be up the hill checking on the rumors of a strange cavalry force approaching town via mountain byways with them ...
His militia companies and the Hesse-Engleburg unit with which they were posted managed to get first volley into a Stagonian battalion which had already been savaged by the primary artillery battery ... and reduced it to less than one stand in one mighty blast! (guess who rolled that set of twele dice? that was one of the three Stagonian battalions essentially dismantled i the game ... btw, one of the two Allied battalions to get chewed up was the Turkenbold FreiKorps, sorry about that).

You guys on the Osterreich blog might take a warning from this, Empress Merry Teaser and her confidante, Marsha Dawn, will probably get a lot of input from Edie too ....

And they're one of Frankfurter's competitors! (groan) I guess that's what I get for taking such a young wife in the first place ...

Good news about the Trunkenbold Jägers but I'm sorry to hear one of the other Freikorps battalions (plus another allied battalion) were given a pummelling. But that's the fortunes of war.

I'm really looking forward to a detailed account of the battle with pictures! :-)

Thanks again, Arthur, and do thank your wife for giving those nasty Stagonians their well-deserved bloody nose.

All the best,

David.

As I've received several inquiries, nobody's named characters got slain, though I did not roll for most battalion commanders. The artillery genius on the Allied side got away when the battery was overrun, and regained most of the guns when the highlanders retook the position.
The Stagonian Brigadiers were very good at getting the battered battalions to return to line or to continue the advance.
Jager troops on both sides performed very well.
There were three Stagonian battalions, (no I don't know which ones), right now I'd need my notes and there's been two deaths in the family this weekend .. things are rather discombobulated here) which actually managed to penetrate the Alliance position, had there been surviving support, this might have been a key to victory ... alas, one of them was elimnated in the counter attack, and the other two fell back when Edie's reserve infantry FINALLy decided to deploy on the roaD.
So King Maurice should not be too mean to the brigadiers, but I suspect there's going to be a reform in his artillery ...

Thanks for that update, Arthur. The church bells are certainly ringing in Tippelbruder - though we are waiting to see what the detailed butcher's bill will be...
