Interesting (I Think) Treatise on Painting Plastics

Kind Sirs;
XXXX
May I please direct your attention towards my alter-ego site, Sir William's World of Wargaming, for a treatise, with photo's, on my observations regarding the prepping and painting of plastics. I do not claim, by any stretch of the imagination, to be an expert or "the final word" on the subject. However, I have had an interesting opportunity to "torture test" some painted plastics and would like to share the conclusions drawn. Many thanks, as always, for your attention and patience. That Blog-spot is found here: http://sirwilliamswargames.blogspot.com/
XXXX
I would especially appreciate feedback and comparisons from Will McNally, Stokes Schwartz, Allen M., and any of the other fine gentlemen out there who are also utilizing plastic for their gaming endeavors.

Respectfully, Sir William

The Audience 2

Von Bergman sips and speaks:
Your Majesty I convey the greetings of Duke Karl Frederick and of the Duchy to you. He has long admired you and what you have done for France ,ney Europa, and for the Faith. He asked that I convey his earnest desire for Gallia and Tradgardland to come closer in all ways both here and in the new World. With Gallia as our guide the Duchy will prosper ever more.
The Duke asks for aid in mounting an expedition to the Shetland isles that we might be together a thorn in the flesh of Brittania. The isles are Tradgargian by right and history and we wish to hold them in joint sovereignty with yourselves. We seek ships and men to help mount the invasion. Your Majesty knows of the tragedy this Summer with the loss of many good men.
We also wish to Help upon the mainland of Europa and in the New World the cause of Gallia. With aid and support may we work together to be the Family of Europa with you as the Father and the Duke as your eldest and favoured son. Instruct, inform and supply us , Majesty , and you will find us willing and able!
Von Bergman sits down flushed with emotion and awaits the wise words of the King....

The Audience

Narrator: We are about to enter the Audience Chamber of the Gallian Royal Palace. As we walk forward, twenty foot tall doors painted in Louis XV blue with gilt fleur dy lys loom in front of us. Beside the double doors stand four guards casting their eyes upon us. Familiar with Gallian Diplomat l'Comte de Rapprochement, our escort, the sergeant momentarily halts ourselves and the Tradgardland Diplomat von Bergmann only briefly. The doors swing open and....
------------------
Guard: Monsieur l'Secretaire, l'Comte de Rapprochement et l'Tradgarland Diplomat von Bergmann are here to see the King at the appointed hour.

Secretaire: Oui. Entré, sil vous plait.
--------------------
Narrator: Within we are ushered to sit at the door edge of a large room by the secretary. Beyond we see ornate tapestries and flor to ceiling wall paintings of battles of Louis XIV, the King's father. The King sits at the far end of the room conversing at table with his Foreign Minister l'Prince de Charade and....
--------------------
Charade: Monsieurs, welcome. Come forward. [We rise and slowly walk forward with two of the aforementioned guards, Rapprochement and the secretary beside us. We stop near the table as Louis rises smiling.]

The King: Monsuer von Bergmann. I am so very glad to make your acquaintance. Please be very welcome and sit there. I am gratified to see, if I may say so, you look the picture of good health in spite of the vexing incident of June and your cruel injury. May I offer you some wine?

Narrator: A steward pours wine for us and replenishes the glasses of the King and l'Prince de Charade.

Charade: Your Majesty. Monsieur von Bergmann has jouneyed far if not by vast distances but in time delayed by his recuperation at the naval hospital at LeHavre. He brings the news I had the honour to mention to you two days ago from his Sovereign and from his colony in the New World.

The King: Oui. I am pleased to welcome his information in person to contemplate it and more.

Von Bergmann: Your Majesty I am honoured to be received today. Moreover I commence, if I may beg to do so, to compliment you on the skill of l'Capitaine and crew of l'Vengeance who brought me to LeHavre in spite of the unfortunate and unavoidable naval battle with the Britannian frigate Invinceable. The ships suregeon saved my life though it was in doubt. My recovery remained in doubt at the naval hosiptal but the care I was given there with sustained prayer proved to be the ace to heal me. The Sisters of Mercy partucularly cared for me with prodigious diligence. I am so very grateful Your Majesty.

The King: I thank you Monsieur for your very kind remarks and sentiments. You may be interested to know I honored l'Capitaine of l'Vengeance with the Nouvelle Ordre de Louis for his skill in the naval battle.

Von Bergmann: Deserved, I am sure, Your Majesty.

Charade: And now Monsieur, we would be pleased to hear the words of your Sovereign and that of the Administrator of your New World Colony - the purpose of your mission I believe.

Narrator: We pause dear readers for von Bergmann to commence. Sipping his wine he begins saying....

Hey! Soweiter! (poxy proxies)

There's volunteer to game out a scenario which I proposed in the "Temptress in a Teaspout" post ... unfortunately, it, and my comment on your blog, seem to have escaped your notice....
So this is a holler to you ...
and, btw, I too am laboring with such interruptions as you've mentioned, which is why my report on the battle Seifreidsburg still languishes (three quarters of text done, now to put that together with my wife's 20+ photos ... ); So you have my sympathy entirely, and in part this shout is to let other guys understand why your lovely participation has been lagging (love his personalities figures pictured on his site guys).

A Formal Apology Is In Order

Kind Sirs,
XXX
I trust that you are all aware that the templates used for the Uniform Plates of M'Uedail were, in fact, created by that most Gracious of Gentlemen, Sir David of Warwickshire, and borrowed from his excellent site, Not By Appointment. Any allusion to the plates being "created" by Mssr's. Shaw and Knotel referred only to the coloring and minor alterations that were performed, not to the original uniform templates. My sincere apologies are due to Sir David if anyone mistook this work as that of anyone other than Himself. Such was never my intention. My intention was only to remain in "character" within the confines of my own Duchy and its humble site.
XXXX
Respectfully, and with Apologies, Sir William of M'Uedail

The Uniforms of M'Uedail Are Now Complete

Kind Sirs,
XXX
I must beg your indulgence, as my first dispatch to you was somewhat premature. I failed to include two very important plates dealing with the units responsible for the Artillery and the Security of our gentle Duchy, which I have now corrected.
XXXX
Respectfully, Sir William

Versailles

It is Midnight and wearily Von Bergman lifts his pen:
Sir
I am grateful for your recent correspondence which sets out a number of matters. As your agents have no doubt made you aware the whereabouts of the Duke's daughter is a delicate matter, For this reason any thoughts of a marriage alliance would be void.
Secondly I wish to press the matter of the Shetland Isles and invasions thereof- what support would be forthcoming? Thirdly how can we work with each other better in the New World whilst maintaining the integrity and safety of Ny Tradgardland?
I am honoured to have an audience with his Majesty on Saturday and await the soiree with intense pleasure.
yours fraternally
Von Bergman

An Interesting Turn of Events...

Alas, Dear Sirs, It has come to my attention that the vile Regent of equally vile Stagonia has been busy infiltrating agents provacateur not only into Georg Simpert's State of Baden-Baden, who I am sworn to help in time of need, but has penetrated the idyllic realm of M'Uedail as well. This state of affairs is quite unacceptable, unless of course his agents are seeking better employment opportunities, which I must admit, do abound in our quiet little Duchy.
XXXXX
Not yet having my Army mobilized, and ever wary of putting even such veterans as I have into the field under new commanders with little or no time for proper drill, I was going to call on one of my Patrons for assistance. However, my Adjutant, the ever-inventive young Mr. G.B. Shaw, advised me that he had foreseen such a situation arising, and not wishing to trouble me with what he believed to be a minor matter, had already taken steps to address this offense by contacting Don Carlo "Lucky" Luciano. It seems that My "Italian" Brigade Commander has a network of odd acquaintances and associates throughout Greater Europa (many of whom I'm told have strangely mis-shapen noses and large knuckles). It seems that wherever these associates of the genial Don Carlo happen to visit, strange "events" occur. I have been told that there have been mysterious warehouse and palace fires, entire families (and their relatives in some cases) disappearing with nary a trace, and even strange events involving racing steeds and bedchambers (I'm told that this particular tale is attributed to Don Vito Corleone, who I assume heard it in idle gossip).
XXXXX
What is even more mysterious is that I have been told that wherever Don Luciano directs his personal attention, entire Trade Guilds will suddenly contract strange maladies that prevent them from working. I'm told that this seems to effect wagon drivers (who Don Carlo refers to as "Teamsters") and dock-workers (who Don Carlo refers to as "Longshoremen") primarily. I'm not one to generally believe in peasant superstitions, but I am descended of the gaellic, and through them, the picts and druids that occupied my homeland in the time before our history. Therefore, I can only assume that some "dark hand" must surely follow Don Carlo and his "associates".
XXXX
I will have to discuss these strange rumors with Don Carlo at my earliest opportunity, as I would hate for some mysterious malady or accident to befall the Regent of Stagonia or those that serve him, or are related to him, or that he rides, or any of his properties. I have never met the man, but I bear no ill will toward any man without just cause. I have had one conversation with Don Carlo about his somewhat "checkered" reputation, and he assured me that it was completely unfounded, that he simply "did small favors for people who, in their own turn, did similar small favors for him." This certainly seems harmless and nonthreatening to me. And, when I asked "Lucky Charlie", as he insists that I call him when in the Mess, if he believed that anything "unusual" might ever befall one of my antagonists, he simply smiled and made that "odd" gesture that young Shaw described, that of touching the end of his nose with his pointing finger and bending the nose slightly. I will say this though, I have never seen a smile that chilled my blood so completely, unless it was in the eyes of a dead sea shark that I chanced to see on one of my visits to the coastal areas. His subordinates, to a man, all shared a similar smile, and I did overhear that young Cavalry Major, Don Pacino, make a comment to Colonel di Niro about, "Making them an offer they can't refuse!" I must admit here, Dear Reader, that I find the Southern Italian customs to be very strange and different from the hearty, open warmth of the Northern Italians whom I have met in Milan and Saronno. Yet I can tell these are men with a purpose, and loyal to a fault, at least to each other and Don Carlo. I trust that their loyalty will transfer itself to me in time, but it does bear watching.
XXXX
In the meantime, I enjoin the Regent of Stagonia, at his pleasure of course, to reconsider any foolish enterprises that he might be associated with, as I would hate to hear of any misfortune that further disrupted the "harmony" that usually exists to our North. And, though I do hate to be the bearer of unpleasant tidings, I must also advise the Regent that Shaw has informed me that at least two of the Stagonian provacateurs have apparently lost their way in the dark, no doubt unfamiliar with our territory, and drowned in the cold waters of the Rhine. I graciously request that the Regent pass my condolence's to their families and advise either myself or Mr. Shaw if there are any special requests regarding their internment. The Duchy of M'Uedail will, as a matter of courtesy of course, gladly handle these arrangements.
XXXX
Respectfully, Sir William of M'Uedail
