As many of those present, may have younger members of their families taking the waters at Sonnenbad, they should be aware that Prince Friedrich is raising a Freihussarenkorps from the young nobility taking the waters at Sonnenbad. This noble corps is being raised to resist the French Revolutionary invasion across the Rhine into the heartland of the Empire.
I appeal to all the nobles of the Empire whatever their personal feelings to allow their offspring to support the cause if at all possible.
We have arranged for a very fetching uniform, courtesy of Herr Linienblatt of "Not By Appointment" a reputable costumier (link)
This will be be an an entirely volunteer unit, for gentlemen of independent means who can support their own upkeep, provide their own horse, who are prepared to ensure the security and liberty of the Empire, its Electors, Nobles and Gentry at whatever cost.

Seamus O'Malley, younger son of Baron O'Malley of Ballyfoole, reports to volunteer. A bit impetuous and untrained in battle he is an accomplished horseman.
Render Fhartz, Gft v. Linksberg, is revolted at the behavior of the Frogs and will willingly particpate (along with a groom or two? and perhaps a personal massuese and ...)
Don't forget the sausages!

Lt. Otto von Zendabrau (third son of Brigadier Baron Viktor von Zendabrau of Saxe-Bearstein) has received permission from both his father and the ruler of the Principality presents himself for service.
He graduated in the upper third of his class from the Saxe-Bearstein War College, but has never seen action. He is a fine horseman and good with a sabre.

Thank you gentlemen
A flock of spoiled brats and snobbish juveniles in pretty uniforms... Well, they *may* show bravery -Noblesse Oblige- but more courage than combat effectiveness.
The survivors -if their morale (not to speak of 'enthusiasm') outlives their delusions- may become real soldiers.
Eugene von Lustbucket, younger son of Graf Haddo von Lustbucket, sits a horse well, tall perhaps for an Hussar, but slender, with an erect posture, he would ornament any unit of Horse. Filled with the usual impetuosity of youth, Eugene has handled firearms in the hunt and, of course, bears the handsome facial scars of the schlager, having at Heidelburg drunk his share from 'the soup plate of honour.'
Of course, his admiration of the splendid uniform ('babe magnet' was I think the peculiar English epithet he murmured, eyeing himself in the mirror) has led to his application to join this Regiment. In support of his application, he brings with him 3 sturdy but unemployed yeomen, Wilhelm Bauer, Hans Gruebl and Heinz Buebenklutz, who have volunteered to become troopers.
(Signed, Peter Scrivener, Secy to estate of Haddo v. Lustbucket)
Good luck to them - and, of course, I certainly look forward to seeing the uniform!
Regards,
David

General Baron von Pilsner was surprised, but proud his youngest son Hans has requested permission to volunteer for the Hussars. Hans is a graduate of the University of Pabst, an excellent horseman, and currently a Lieutenant in the Pilsner Horse Grenadiers. Reich Duke Wilhelm has approved his request and has ordered a cavalry review to send young Hans on his way. During the review, Hans will be inducted into the Order of the Goblet.
Ritter Hugo von Schwillensaufenstein III, grandson of General Hugo von Schwillensaufenstein of Raubenstadt requests permission to join up. When informed of his grandson's decision, "Alte Blut und Donner" said, "Here's luck to the young sprig! Orderly! Why is my glass empty?!"
May I present the Ritter Mariusz Kulenovich? He is the illegitimate son of the head of one of the oldest and richest noble houses of Syldavia. He is a quite a bit of a rake and a skallywag - an inveterate gambler and hell-raiser, usually flat broke and he has twice survived duels in matters of honour with offended husbands. To his credit, however, he is as utterly fearless as he is cultivated, a friend to all, a poet and a gifted musician. Perhaps he is a natural choice as trumpeter for such a unit as this. At the very least he is unlikely to desert as he can't go home until he has made something of himself and is wanted by money-lenders as well...
Plus, he already has the braids!

Thanks again for all the volunteers, all being well they will appear in the narrative over the next few weeks.
I seem to recall a certain Eugene von Lustbucket attempted to join up a few days ago. Now I did have some trouble with sending messsages that particular day, so either the paperwork fell through the cyber-cracks, or, for some reason, despite his horsemanship and ability with the schlager, not to mention his admiration for the splendid uniform, his application was disapproved. At any rate, here it is resubmitted...
Cheers,
Ion
what scale? and where do I send him? Cavenderia would surely provide a suitable candidate.
